Anchor Boys meet on Wednesday evenings from 6pm till 7pm, and is for boys’ aged 5 to 7 years old.
Subscription: £1 per week
Uniform: school trousers and shoes, and upon joining an anchor boy uniform consisting of a blue polo neck and a red sweatshirt.
During the evening we play lots of different games, we create something wonderful during our craft and have some quiet time when we have a story. During their time in Anchors, the boys will work towards gaining badges for their armband (part of the Boys’ Brigade uniform). The topics covers are varied and include practical skills, like tying the shoe laces and even a bit of cookery!
Throughout the year we enter competitions and events organised by the Birmingham Battalion and also our local South East Division. We also have an annual display evening, held at Lyndon school in May, where the Company along with our Girls Brigade Company put on an evening of events to entertain parents and families.
Our staff in the Anchor Boy section is made up of six trained Officers: four of us are Moms ourselves and there are two young men who have been right through the Company as boys and are now qualified Officers.
Being a Christian organisation we encourage all of our boys to attend Church at least once a month, being the second Sunday in each month when we hold our parade service. These services are aimed at families and the boys really enjoy them.

Most boys join our Anchor Boy section and we then have the pleasure of seeing them grow up and move through Juniors, Company and then the Senior section. Many stay on in the company and then train to become Officers themselves. Very few lose touch completely.
